Japanese Local Government DX Demonstration Project Strategy Briefing Session

Besides SSS, Yokohama and Kobe — which have signed cooperation agreements with Shibuya on global hub cities and open innovation — participated in the Japanese Local Government DX Demonstration Strategy Briefing hosted by KOTRA, a Korean government agency for trade promotion and investment attraction. Other participants included the Okinawa IT Innovation Strategy Center (ISCO), Nagoya City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and other Japanese municipalities from across the country.

At the event, presentations included KOTRA’s insights on Japan’s DX (digital transformation) strategy and entry into the Japanese market, as well as support initiatives for proof-of-concept projects between Japanese municipalities and Korean startups, and case studies of Korean startups expanding into Japan. Japanese representatives also introduced initiatives for supporting overseas companies and startups, digital transformation, and proof-of-concept trials, with Saeko Seno from SSS presenting.

Following the presentations, one-on-one meetings were held between Japanese municipalities and Korean startups. Eight startups interested in potential collaboration participated in meetings:

・EST SOFT: Artificial intelligence and deep learning
・SmartSound: Healthcare, telemedicine, AI diagnostic support

・Hyodol: AI for elder care
・SHAREBOX: Content creation and XR
・emotiv: Digital medical devices and digital healthcare
・icncast: MyData and expert matching platform

・RaonSecure: IT security and integrated authentication platform services

Saeko Seno, SSS representative at the event, said, “we found that many Korean startups are considering expanding to Japan because of the advantages of Japan’s proximity in terms of distance and the large market.”

On the 11th, the day after the Japanese Local Government DX Demonstration Project Strategy Briefing, we visited two participating local startups. We also visited the office of d-camp, the largest startup support organization in South Korea to discuss future collaboration.

SSS will attend Foster Bridge in Korea in December

SSS will participate in Foster Bridge, a startup event to promote international collaboration among investors and innovators, to be held in Seoul, South Korea from December 2-3 2024. We will have a booth at the event, and will also participate in a panel discussion with Shibuya startup visa holders on the topic of overseas startups entering the Japanese market.
