Yokohama is just a 30-minute train ride from Shibuya Station. And the city is also focusing on innovation creation, including startup support. Yokohama City’s strength lies in its diverse, innovative human resources, with private companies and university R&D centers (RIKEN, Apple, Yokohama City University, etc.) located in the city, including the Minato Mirai 21 district. On November 18, 2020, Yokohama City and Shibuya City signed a partnership agreement to further promote their cooperation and collaboration efforts.
It is part of the innovation policy to develop four city areas below, selected by the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, into a world-class ecosystem of “Global Hub Cities.“
Through the collaboration between Shibuya City and Yokohama City, we will promote the formation of a startup ecosystem, the attraction of overseas companies, and open innovation through the exchange of human resources and information sharing, taking advantage of the characteristics of each.
