Following the sister city agreement between Shibuya and the Miraflores district of Lima, Peru, in June 2024, Shibuya City and JICA Peru are collaborating to launch the acceleration program BAILA Shibuya in November this year. This accelerator program will invite startups from South America to tackle social issues in Shibuya.

1. Opportunity to present your business to Japanese stakeholders
・8 companies will be selected. Online pitch to Japanese stakeholders.
2. Mentoring support + financial support
・The finalist will be provided with mentoring support and a travel subsidy to develop its business plan in Japan.
3. Chance to receive additional support to expand your business in Shibuya
・ Automatic acceptance to the Innovation for New Normal from Shibuya initiative, which supports business plan development, proof of concept implementation, and networking with potential clients and partners.
・Preferential application for the Shibuya Startup visa that enables foreign nationals to stay in Japan for 1 year for business. Visa holders receive benefits from Shibuya City Office, such as procedural support for establishing a Japanese branch and opening a bank account, free co-working space for 1 year, and the participation in an exclusive community.
*The screening processes for the Startup visa is carried out independently from BAILA Shibuya Program. The awarded startup does not automatically qualify for this visa.
