A first for public nurseries in Tokyo's 23 wards! All public nurseries in Shibuya Ward begin offering a disposable diaper subscription service called "Hand-Free Nursery."

Starting in January 2022, all public nurseries in Shibuya Ward will begin using “Te-bura Token,” a flat-rate diaper service for nurseries provided by BABY JOB Co., Ltd. and Unicharm Corporation.Since June 2020, Shibuya Ward has been implementing the “Innovation for New Normal from Shibuya” initiative, which solicits new technologies and ideas from startups, universities, research institutions, and others to address social issues, and conducts pilot experiments to test their feasibility. As part of this pilot program, the “Hand-Free Drop-Off” paper diaper subscription service was selected, and a two-month pilot experiment was conducted at all 18 public kindergartens in Shibuya Ward starting in November 2021.Following the pilot, we surveyed parents who participated in the program, and approximately 90% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the elimination of the need to prepare or bring disposable diapers and wipes. Based on these results, starting in January 2022, the “Hand-Free Drop-Off” service will be implemented at all public kindergartens in Shibuya Ward.
